Cardiothoracic: Most are trained in cardiac andthoracic surgery( and a lot of medicine) training for six to ten years depending on program and lab. Board certification traditionally in general surgery before thoracic, but some shorter programs evolving. Can diagnose, treat, operate on heart, lungs, chest wall, esophagus etc. Thoracic means chest.
