Generally safe: Contrast-induced nephropathy (kidney injury associated with intravenous contrast) is usually mild, transient, and only implies moderate-high risk in patients with preexisting kidney damage. Some people will have a little rise in markers of damage, but most times it gets back to normal in a couple days-weeks. Ask your doctor to order kidney function tests before the CT!
