Residual pain: When any body part is injured or becomes inflamed -- whether from an infection, injury, or other cause -- pain and discomfort sometimes persist. Think of the sprained ankle that still hurts long after it is healed. The same can happen with the urethra following urethritis. The discomfort should gradually improve. But return to the doctor or clinic if still there after another 1-2 weeks.
