When urethritis causes such severe pain, it usually means gonorrhea or herpes, or sometimes adenovirus; chlamydia and nongonococcal urethritis (NGU) rarely are so painful. Make sure you're on the right treatment. If so, Instillagel for a day or two probably is OK.
