Please expalin the difference betweeen hyperechoic & hypoechoic lesions on the liver?

Hyperechoic: Lesions are "bright" or whiter than surrounding liver. Hypoechoic lesions are darker than surrounding liver. There are long lists of what causes these and ct scans or MRI are often used to sort out questions.
