Post exposure tests: Per CDC: No HIV test detects HIV immediately after infection. A nucleic acid test (NAT) can usually tell you if you have HIV infection 10 to 33 days after an exposure. An antigen/antibody test on blood from a vein can usually detect HIV infection 18 to 45 days after an exposure. After exposure to known HIV, start post exposure prophylaxis within 72 hrs. (28 days of 3 antiretrovial medications)
