TB? Cancer? Danger!: Coughing up blood from the chest is potentially very serious. The most common cause is tuberculosis (Koch's disease), especially in places like South Africa. Other infections and lung cancer also are possible. You need to see a doctor ASAP. You also need HIV testing, if not tested recently or otherwise not known to have it. Good luck.
