Need more info: Elastofibroma is an uncommon, relatively benign tumor, and it generally occurs in the skin. It is not an urgent or ominous matter. You need to talk to your doctor and may be with the doctor have a discussion with the pathologist who made the diagnosis.

I am 23 and have had 5 polyps removed from colon. The two that stick out are one juvinile retention polyp & one elastofibroma polyp which the doctors say is odd. Why do these types of polyps appear? Reactive or underlining condition? Or just random?
Colon polyp removed from me was deemed to be elastofibroma but mayo clinic wants to run one more test, Congo red stain, to rule out possibility of amyloidosis deposites. Can the two be mistaken for each other?
