Itching: Diffuse itching without a rash or insect bites can be caused by excessively dry skin, diabetes, liver or kidney disease. It can be a reaction to something ingested even though hives aren't present. Rarely chronic anxiety is a cause. Have him see his MD for testing if itching persists.
