Menstrual cramps: Both Aleve and Advil are in the same class of medications and are felt to be effective in relieving symptoms of dysmenorrhea. Applying heat over the lower abdomen may also relieve severe menstrual cramping. Your gynecologist can also advise you on this matter if painful periods continue.
