A member asked:

Is it true that levothryroxine increase t4 level?

Confusing question: Levothyroxine IS ALSO CALLED T4. It can be made by the body or synthetically to treat thyroid problems. It is converted in the body to T3 (triiodothyronine) which is the active form which performs the hormones functions. When given in excess it can create problems from that excess. It is usually used to replace the hormone when the gland does not make sufficient amounts.
