Had a ct scan i asked for the dose they used this is what they sent me ctdi of 21.34 mgy and a dlp of 972 mgy cm was used they stated these are dose indices not patient doses the numbers do little to describe the risk to me what does this mean ?

Radiation: CT of head is 8 months of background radiation. CT abdomen and pelvis is about 3 years of background radiation.
