It happens: The size & closure timing of the soft spot varies in humans. Ninety % are closed by 19 mo & 96% by 2 yrs. There are a few conditions like low thyroid that can delay closure, but the presence of a soft spot at that age is neither confirmation of a problem or a reason for worry.
