Throat lump: Swollen or enlarged lymph glands are usually on the sides and back of the neck. The thyroid gland is located in the front of the neck and could be inflamed. You should be examined by a physician to determine the cause of nature of the lump you describe. I have seen many cases of tonsillitis, including mono, but haven't seen a lump in front of the neck associated with them.
