A member asked:

I have pcos been on bc since i was 13, im now 22. worried about the impacts of bc over long period of time. what happens if i stop taking it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

PCOS ?'s : With PCOS, the use of bcp's are protective of the effects of constant estrogen manufacture w/o ovulation. If you stop taking oral contraceptive pills, and PCOS is still occurring, you will just continue with no or infrequent ovulation, or you may have overcome PCOS given the long interval. Unless pregnancy is desired in the near future, you are probably better off continuing the low dose bcp's.
