A member asked:

In my complete blood test report impression normocytic normochromic blood picture ? is that normal

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Normocytic, normochro: One can be anemic and still have normocytic and normochromic red blood cells. Normocytic describes a normal sized red blood cell and normochromic describes normal hemoglobin content of the red blood cell. Anemia seen in chronic inflammatory disease is usually normochromic and normocytic, for example. Iron deficiency anemia is microcytic. B12 deficiency is macrocytic.
