Some basics: Fever is a normal body response to infection & is often higher in infants than older kids/adults. Viruses often have cycles of fever off/on for several days. Fever meds seldom do more than drop a degree off the top even if given on schedule. I assume the ER looked at the kid & didn't find anything bad. Your basic rx at this point is to assure fluid intake/prevent dehydration.
