Magnesium excretion : Methylphenidate can decrease Magnesium carbonate excretion rate. REF: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7761553 (Effect of dextroamphetamine and methylphenidate on calcium and magnesium concentration in hyperactive boys.) This study showed higher levels of plasma Magnesium after dextroamphetamine treatment. Uncertain where concept of depleting magnesium is from.
