Bacteremia: We have many bacteria residing in our mouths. Periodontitis is the infection and ultimate destruction of the supporting structures of the teeth (ie gums). Periodontal bacteria can enter the bloodstream and deposit in various organs leading to heart disease, vascular disease, renal disease, osteoporosis, premature birth, and respiratory disease.

Bacteria: Current studies link periodontal disease with heat disease and stroke. That bacteria that causes periodontal disease triggers the inflammatory chain. Once an artery is occluded with plaque it will cut off blood to the organs that need it to survive. Check out the work of bale and doneen on this subject.
