Great question: Palliative chemotherapy is for incurable cancer, so there should be a good reason for giving it. If cancer is causing pain or other distressing symptoms, and chemo helps ease those symptoms, that's a good reason. If the cancer can be controlled for a long period of time with chemo, that's a good reason. But if neither of the above is true, it's time to pose the same question to your doctor.
