Prescription naproxen is 500mg bid. is it safe to take 2 otc (aleve) naproxen bid? the bottle says its safe to take 2 only at the 1st dose.

In reality,: so long as you have no gastritis or gastric/duodenal ulcers, high blood pressure or renal compromise it would be safe for a short period of time. NSAIDs are not intended to be taken chronically either prescription or OTC
