I would like alternatives to my present prescription medication that is not working. at the present, the va doctor has me on 5mg oxycodone (x2 three times per day), 10mg cyclobenzaprine (two per day), & 500mg naproxen (1 per day). i have spinal degenerati

You : You are smart to be concerned about the side effects and consequences of medication management. You don't mention how long you've been having symptoms or if you have other significant health issues (i.e. Diabetes, heart disease, sleep apnea). My suggestion would be that you see a competent, board certified pain medicine doctor to review your situation. Possible non-drug options would include: physical therapy, epidural injections of corticosteroid, acupuncture or even surgery, all dependent on your individual case. Good luck!

Talk to doc: There are lots of different treatments and medications to try. For spinal degeneration one of the keys will be excellent physical therapy.
