Testing: Recurrent streptococcal pharyngitis usually reflect inadequacy of therapy to eradicate pharyngeal carriage of group A streptococci. Some patients are carriers of pharyngeal group A streptococci and have positive throat cultures for group A strep when they are cultured in the setting of viral respiratory tract infections.
