Infection : You may need a course of antibiotics. Monitor your temperature, drink fluids and see your PCP. Sputum samples may be obtained to determine the cause. If you smoke, please request cytology testing.

Aspiration?: Although this is rare for a wisdom tooth extraction, one needs to consider this possibility. If the problem has gone on for more than a week or is getting worse, see your doctor who may order a chest x-ray.
