Asthma: Asthma can be a very serious disease. It it's the result of chronic inflammation in the lungs. Smoking is probably the worst thing someone with asthma can do. There are medications to improve the inflammation of asthma, but smoking puts more fuel on the fire, making the meds less effective.

Some thoughts: Asthma is an imbalance between the mechanism that clamps down the airway to prevent toxic irritants from damaging the air exchange tissue & the reopening of that airway. You smoke, you constantly trigger the protective mechanism. You may get by for a while as a smoker. But the frequency of sudden death in mild asthma has not changed in decades. If you don't respect asthma, you could be next.
