What causes high blood pressure in teens?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Possibilities: There are many possible origins to HBP in teens. This would include kidney/heart issues that would usually be detected much earlier. Obesity & dietary issues like high salt intake/caffeine/nicotine/ etc. are possible. Inappropriate steroid use is another. When all other issues have been looked at a percentage of teens will have no obvious reason so they are labeled as "essential hypertension".
