My 86yo mother has a-fib & stage 2 renal failure. on xeralto & elequis she had severe bleeding, 5 transfusions. now on aspirin. any better options?

Atrial fibrillation: Oral anticoagulation therapy is recommended, but with that history best to stick with the Aspirin. You can talk to your cardiologist. Adding Plavix can add some added protection.

Possibly: There may be no other good options. One other drug, warfarin, is possible, but it may have a higher bleeding risk compared with the drugs your mother has tried in past, and it requires very frequent bloodwork / lab visits in the beginning. Her doctor likely considered it and concluded it isn’t a good option, leaving aspirin as the treatment of preference.
