A member asked:

Why is my inner and outer ear oily? if i touch it i have to wash my hands so i dont get oil on anything or is it part of ear wax?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Ears naturally oily: We produce oil on all parts of our skin except our palms, and the soles of our feet, so ears are naturally oily to some degree. Wax could feel oily as well. I have some concern, however, that you may be having a discharge from your ears, such as with an infection, so, unless you are sure that it is just oil or wax, I would advise having a physician examine your ears. Take care!
