Vague description: If it is within the skin of the lid it is likely an irritated tear gland. If it arises at or near the lashes it would be an inflamed oil gland of the lash. Warm compresses may help in the short run but these often require that the eye doc treat them. The irritated tear gland must sometimes be cut & the debris inside removed. It can be done in the office under local.
