A 33-year-old male asked about a female:

My daughter woke up with her eye gummed up this morning. cleaned it with a wet cotton ball and did nothing more. gave her zyrtec this afternoon, but her eye still seems irritated. no itching. only inside of left eye is red. mild swelling after sleep?

Conjunctivitis: Your daughter may have a inflamed conjunctiva. It could be vital, environmental ( allergy's) or bacterial. All above cause redness " pink eye". Warm water wash , eyewash , warm wash clothe on is all good. but if no better she may need prescription rue drops . Best to be seen ASAP by MD .. Urgent Care Clinic . Important keep hand hygiene. Do nor rub eyes . Zyrtec (cetirizine) OK to continue. .

Eyes gummed up: Most likely due to bacteria on eyelashes or demodex mites which can be common. Please consult with us to see if very diluted tea tree oil to scrub outside of lashes or Avenova or a Rx for an antibiotic ointment or drop is needed. More info Eyedoc2020.blogspot.com
