The : The fact that your ophthalmologist has been able to help you regain your vision says a lot about his skill. He knows your anatomy and the area of the occlusion in the eye so he is the correct person to ask these questions to. Indeed, prior to some of the "miracle" drugs that we have available today, people with your problem rarely gained much eyesight back.

You : You need to take this list of questions to the doctor who is doing your injections. It is certainly reasonable for you to know what the long term plan is, as well as the prognosis for your eye specifically. Unfortunately, the research shows that patients with swelling cannot just heal on their own. And having the injections every 6 weeks is definitely better than letting the swelling get worse, and possibly cause permanent damage to your vision.

You : You will need treatment indefinitely until the swelling does not recur. If untreated, swelling can worsen and lead to poor vision.
