Self-requested admi: I don't know what the trend is in South Africa. However, in the United States - I don't know of any insurance companies that would pay for inpatient treatment for those issues alone. Psychosis, suicidal ideations and sometimes thoughts of harm to others may be the basis for admission. Complete inability to function may be another reason. Strict bed rest isn't usually required for psychiatric care.
