A member asked:

If 20mg omeprazole causes magnesium absorption issues would you expect 10mg to have less of this effect?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: PPIs appear to inhibit active magnesium absorption and common symptoms of magnesium depletion are weakness, tremors, and muscle twitching) Omeprazole is the most likely PPI to cause low blood magnesium and induced low blood magnesium causes low blood calcium over 1/2 ofthe time.Lower dose is betterif does the job.
