Hernia: This may not be a hernia - it could be diastasis recti which is just a weakness in the muscle causing a bulge that is more pronounced when tensing the abdominal wall.

Moderate: Depends on size and scar tissue present. Smaller hernias actually more dangerous due to risk of bowel trapping so those should be fixed. Larger hernias are more cosmetic problems and may require use of prosthetic materials to close if large. Talk with experienced surgeon to make educated decision.
