A member asked:

Had test for vaginal yeast infection. dr saw yeast under microscope but when sample was sent to lab, culture showed no yeast, which is accurate?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See below: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, a small amount of yeast is normally present in vagina. The culture result may have meant that no pathological yeast was noted.
