Could be asthma: Kids wheeze for a lot of reasons in childhood & 1/3-1/2 may grow out of their wheezing by age 5. However, true asthma can persist through life with a variable intensity from very mild to major. If you are having such events you should meet with your doc for a review & testing. An asthma action plan that addresses how to manage your events & monitor improvement is needed.

Asthma: This is most likely nocturnal asthma which can be provoked by changes in ambient temperature or barometric pressure or excessive dryness but also by dust collecting articles in your bedroom. Your physician or a pulmonologist can prescribe a maintenance preventative inhaler as well as rescue inhaler to be used as needed. Infection doesn't appear present since you're not having daytime symptoms.
