Yes/avoid or get it: You can consult the US CDC site for current recommendations.( wwwnc.CDC.gov/travel ) Each type of medication has its own potential side effects. The main choice is whether to risk malaria or not. The only case of malaria I ever treated here in the central US was a 6 yo kid who traveled in the risk area who refused his preventive meds.
