Menopause ?: Menopause is frequently misunderstood. It is not just the cessation of regular periods. After 40, "periods" (or bleeding episodes) may become infrequent, and after strong enough stimulation by increases in pituitary hormones, high estrogen levels can simulate a very delayed "period". See your gyn physican for a pelvic ultrasound to determine if diagnostic surgery is indicated, or other testing.
