A member asked:

I woke up yesterday with unilateral swelling/nodule about the size of a marble just superior to the suboccipital region. its definitely not muscular and is extremely tender to touch. i think its a lymph node. what should i do?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Get examined: this is most likely, a posterior occipital lymph node, usually inflammed or enlarged from a scalp or hairline irritation, acne, allergies or subacute infection. You must be examined and will probably need a CBC blood test.
