A member asked:

After a negative blood test for syphilis, how accurate is this result and is there a possibility of it being a false negative? more than 3 months since possible exposure

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Which test: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, RPR or VDRL could give a false negative but test for Treponemal antibody is unlikely to produce false negative.
