Injury?: If you have had any recent injury to that part of the face or the jaw, some pain is expected. One needs to consider a problem with that side of the jaw as well particularly among people who grind or clench their jaws while asleep. See dentist if problem persists beyond 2 weeks or gets worse.

Another cause: If the swelling remains and is still tender, it could be inflamed lymph nodes, but another possibility is an inflammation of the parotid gland or a blockage in its duct. Saliva from the parotid gland enters the mouth approximately near you upper 2nd molar in the cheek. A blockage is not totally uncommon and if the swelling remains, you should see either and oral and maxillofacial surgeon or ENT
