Reducing risk: Your high degree of nearsightedness does increase your risk over the general population but does not mean it will happen, especially at your age. One way of reducing you risk while working out is to NEVER hold your breath during a lift. This increases your venous blood pressure. It may never transmit up to your eyes during that period but is worth avoiding.
