A member asked:

Good morning doctors. what is the likelihood of a posterior vitreous detachment becoming a retinal tear or a retinal detachment in a significantly myopic older adult? is it safe to travel and not be near a hospital or have access to medical doctors?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

A "posterior vitreous detachment" is already a partial retinal tear. Get a referral to a University Medical School ophthalmologist for guidance, as recurrence or more serious detachment is possible.
