Docs choice: Doctors go through 25+/- years of formal education to begin their practice years. When it comes to diagnosing/treating patients they select studies based on their training & experience. If you were qualified to choose what studies would be most appropriate for a given problem you could get it at the mall. Find a doc you trust & see if any testing is warranted. Save the DIY for your home.

Need more info: The universal name for intestinal ultrasound test is "abdominal ultrasound". Ultrasound may not be the most appropriate test based on your injury. In this situation, a face-to-face physical examination is important in helping make the best recommendation for you. The options range from not needing any abdominal imaging to a CT scan of the abdomen with contrast.

Ultrasound: is generally not useful for evaluating the intestines because due to the physics of acoustic impedence, ultrasound sound waves do not transmit through bowel gas and are completely reflected. Therefore, no useful image can be obtained. The initial study of choice to evaluate for intestinal injury would be a CT scan.
