LCL may not heal: It all depends on the severity of the injury and if it associated with other injuries. A LCL of the knee if it is completely torn does not heal by itself and surgery is usually required. If is is only a grade one (mild partial tear) and your knee is relatively stable the return to play with a brace in 4-6 weeks. Even with this you still have problems and need surgery later on.
