Post surgery pain: Pain immediately after surgery suggests: wrong surgery, wrong level, wrong diagnosis, wrong surgeon, wrong patient. Delayed return of pain suggests new problem, and requires evaluation. If instability from previous surgery, fusion is frequently helpful. However, as number of surgeries increase, success rates decrease. Pain stimulator is an option for unidentifiable pain source.

Varies: It really varies based upon the specific reason you are still having pain. There may be a simple solution or not, but it does depend on what the specific issue is. Don't hesitate to discuss with a specialist.
