If your work is: causing the carpal tunnel syndrome, the inflammation and compression of the nerve can result in permanent damage. It would be appropriate to stop working if that is true. If your work is not causing the carpal tunnel issue then there is no reason to stop. Regardless it would be important to assess and document the current level of disability before you end up with permanent damage. See a MD.
