Numbness: Tingling, burning. And pain are the primary chief complaints often heard. Usually, palpating or touching the tarsal tunnel ellicits these symptoms immediately. Tarsal tunnel is a specific anatomical region where the posterior tibial nerve and or it's branching are compressed causing the above problems.

Tarsal tnnl syndrome: This is entrapment of the tibial nerve in the tarsal tunnel on the inside of the ankle. This nerve entrapment causes pain and sensory loss in the heel and sole of the foot. There is also weakness of the small muscles that control toe movement.
