Skin/blood tests: A careful history is taken, noting symptoms, triggers and medications used. After a physical examination, appropriate allergy tests are done to pinpoint exact allergic sensitivities. Usually skin tests are done, but in some cases blood allergy tests can also be used. Putting together the history, physical findings and laboratory tests, the allergy specialist can then diagnose allergy and treat.
