Probably hopeless: A tooth that has decay and has been left untreated for 10 years is probably hopeless. The nerve has long died, and it now hurts to bite on it because you probably have a subclinical abscess surrounding the tooth. At some point, the pain may become continuous and you'll be seeking emergency dental care. You're better off going to a local dentist and having the tooth evaluated.
